Many members join purely for the benefits of social and networking. However as you can see JCI is much more than that.
To get the most out of JCI it is recommended that you complete the following steps.
Step 1. Complete JCI Australia Induction.
Download Pathways to Effective Leadership and start leadership career planning. For more information about Pathways to Effective Leadership click here.
Step 2.Define what your goals are
- for what you want to achieve as an individual
- making a positive change in your community
Failure to do this will result in you being unable to specifically select the areas you want to focus on, and you will end up doing activities just for the sake of doing them without any real purpose or meaning behind them.
For assistance with goal setting please refer to the following information. Personal Development Resources.
Step 3. Get involved and have fun
Don't forget to volunteer and challenge yourself by taking an active part in the Chapters many activities. If you are seeking assistance don't hesitate to approach your elected Chapter Director, President or even a National Board member for assistance. If there is a activity you want to complete that is not on the Chapter schedule of activities then don't be afraid to take the initiative and offer to coordinate it.
Step 4. Continue on your Learning and Development
Even when you come to the end of your first year of membership this is only the beginning of your journey with JCI.Therefore we encourage you to continue completing these steps for every year you are a member. This will greatly assist you with your ongoing development as an individual.
